Welcome,
The Master of Public Health program prepares students for public health careers by providing a comprehensive understanding of public health philosophy, as well as the practical knowledge and skills needed to address current and emerging public health problems. The MPH program is designed to serve both health professionals (with or without doctoral level degrees) and individuals who through undergraduate study and/or experience have substantial interest in a career in public health.
If
you are a prospective student, or unsure about what public health
is all about, check out the "Prospective
Student" webpage. There you will find slide presentations on
public health and careers in public health.
The MPH program consists of core courses, concentration area courses, a field training experience and a culminating experience (the integrative project). The concentrations offered are biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, health behavior, and health services administration.
The
MPH program draws upon public health resources available within
the eight county region of Western New York (WNY),
in particular the county
health departments and the Western Regional Office of the State
of New York Department of Health.
Arrangements can be made for students in University at Buffalo professional schools to obtain the MPH degree in addition to another professional degree. For example, a JD and MPH could be completed in just four years of study, the MD and MPH degrees could be completed in five years. Check out the collaborative programs web pages.
Check
out this website, the Frequently Asked Questions,
and if you have any further questions, please go to the "Contact
Info" page.
The School of Public Health and Health Professions is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
