The 2020 School of Public Health and Health Professions Commencement Ceremony will take place at the Center for the Arts, UB North Campus, on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 1 p.m.


Students who have completed all required graduation requirements, forms and filed for their degree with an expected conferral date of Sept. 2019, Feb. 2020, or June 2020, and who remain in good academic standing may participate in commencement.

If you do not have all of your graduate requirements fulfilled (e.g., missing classes, requirements unfulfilled,) you must submit a petition to be considered to walk in commencement by Apr. 17, 2020.

Check In Time

Students who do not check in by 11:30 a.m. may lose the opportunity to participate in the ceremony.

  • When you arrive, locate and check in at your program area as identified by signage.
  • The ceremony will begin promptly at 1 p.m. and is expected to last approximately two hours.
  • A reception for graduates, family and friends will immediately follow in the Center for the Arts atrium.

Caps, Gowns, Hoods and Tassels

Commencement attire is required.


This is a ticketed ceremony. All guests will need a ticket to enter the Center for the Arts. As a graduating student registers for the ceremony, they will have the opportunity to reserve up to four tickets. When a student registers for the ceremony, they will receive a confirmation email that includes information on how and when to pick up their tickets. Students must pick up their tickets with UB Card in advance of the commencement ceremony, during the dates and times specified in the confirmation email.

Guest seating in the Mainstage Theatre will open approximately 45 minutes before the ceremony start time.
