Research Interests: role of alcohol in aggression and suicide, characteristics of alcohol/drug impaired drivers, substance abuse and crime, geographic factors in health and behavior, gambling and substance use, and the evaluation of school-based programs in areas such as substance abuse prevention, violence prevention and academic improvement


Dr. Wieczorek is the director of the Center for Health and Social Research at the State University of New York College at Buffalo (Buffalo State College), where he is also a professor of geography and planning. Prior to this appointment, he was a senior research scientist at the Research Institute on Addictions, where he continues as an associate scientist. He has been an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health at the University at Buffalo for over a decade, where he has taught the graduate course in alcohol epidemiology and has mentored both doctoral and master's level students.
