Summary

Dr. Cristian Cuadra studies the neural mechanism of movement control with a strong emphasis on understanding of neuropathologies. His long-term research goal is to advance rehabilitation strategies for lower and upper limb function by understanding how movement disorders originate from neuropathologies and musculoskeletal conditions across the lifespan.

Currently, Dr. Cuadra is the director of the Neuromodulation and Neural Control of Movement Lab at UB, which studies neural circuits and their contribution to goal-directed actions (grasping, prehension, reaching, posture and walking), as well as their potential for creating neuromodulatory interventions. The lab's ultimate goal is to help improving function for older adults, and those who suffer of stroke, spinal cord injury, Multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease.
