Summary

Kirk Personius, PT, PhD, is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science and program director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Personius also holds an appointment in UB's Neuroscience program. His research focuses on how communication between motor neurons and muscle fibers guides the development of the neuromuscular junction and how this communication breaks down during disease, trauma and aging. Ultimately, Personius is interested in identifying potential targets to be used by regenerative medicine for treatment of denervation, sarcopenia or muscle-wasting diseases. Personius teaches Foundations in Physical Therapy 1 (PT 509) and Integumentary (PT 612).
