Admissions

Apply Online

Apply online to the PhD program. The online application is fast, easy and secure. A $50 non-refundable fee is required.

Deadline

We accept applications year-round on a rolling basis. If you’d like to be considered for an assistantship, apply by March 15.

Requirements

  • Applicants to the PhD program are expected to have an MS degree in exercise science or a related field from an accredited college or university.  Students with a BS degree who wish to enter our PhD program should apply to the MS in exercise science program.  A bypass of the MS degree into the PhD program may be possible based on academic performance and research potential observed during the first academic year.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of coursework.
  • GRE scores; however, there is no minimum score. The results are used to evaluate your potential. Note: The MCAT or any other standardized test may not be used as a substitute for the GRE.

Before you submit your application, ensure that you have all of the supplemental materials ready.

  • Contact a faculty member in your area of interest to arrange an in-person or phone interview.
  • Secure two recommendation forms from individuals who have worked closely with you and have considerable knowledge of your academic performance.
  • Request that your official transcripts from each college or university you have attended are sent to the department.
