Department Assistantships and Tuition Scholarships

The Department is committed to financially supporting its PhD students. Most students receive stipends and/or tuition scholarships, and are supported throughout their graduate careers in the department. All eligible students are considered for financial support at the time of admission by the admissions committee. Appointments are for one year with the possibility of renewal for additional years.

Most of our PhD students receive graduate assistantships. Students with assistantships receive a 12-month stipend of $ $23,427 along with a full tuition scholarship and health care coverage. Students with graduate assistantships work 20 hours per week. Responsibilities include functioning as a teaching assistant and/or working on research projects. Assistantships complement your learning experiences by providing the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge you have gained.
