Admissions and Application Information

What background do I need to apply?

You do not need a degree in nutrition. Coursework in general biology, nutrition, chemistry (both inorganic, organic and biochemistry) and physiology is recommended.

What if I don’t have all the prerequisites?

You can take some of the prerequisite courses as a graduate student.

When is the application deadline and how long before I can expect a reply?

For domestic students, we accept applications year-round on a rolling basis. If you’d like to be considered for a graduate assistantship, apply by March 15.

International admissions deadlines are:

  • March 1 to be considered for fall semester
  • Aug. 15 to be considered for spring semester

Is financial assistance available?

Aside from university-based assistance, we award assistantships on a competitive basis. You may also review our available scholarship, fellowship and award opportunities.

Career Preparation

What career opportunities do graduates of the program pursue?

Most students go on to further studies, such as doctoral programs, medical school and other advanced health care professions. Some are employed as nutrition professionals in health care, or use their degrees for advancement in their present occupations.
