About Us

At UB's Nutrition and Health Research Laboratory, we study the influence of food and food additives on all eating and drinking behaviors in humans.

Our current studies include investigating the effects of soda additives on beverage preferences, working memory and salivation as well as determining the effects of aerobic exercise on food reinforcement.

Past studies have explored the relationship between ingredients in sports drinks and one's perception toward exercise, the factors that influence food reinforcement in obese and non-obese adults, and the effects of chewing gum on eating habits.

A neurobiologist by training, Jennifer L. Temple, PhD, became interested in factors that impact human ingestive behavior and wanted to explore why we eat what we eat.

We're happy to answer questions about our studies, including how students can participate in hands-on research opportunities.
