Teaching Philosophy

I believe that education is an important aspect of one’s human development. I believe that all individuals pursuing higher education are deserving of a quality education that prepares them to be successful members of our ever-changing local, national, and global societies. I believe that learning can occur through a myriad of avenues and contexts; however, optimal learning occurs when the student is presented with a solid foundation of information, and then engaged with opportunities and lessons that build on that foundation with advanced, refined concepts and constructs. I believe that an inclusive learning environment is of utmost importance for active participation of the student within the education process, and as teachers and institutions, we hold a high standard of responsibility to promote and create inclusive learning contexts for our students.

My goal as a teacher is to effectively equip my students with knowledge and resources to be able to accomplish their life endeavors. My goal for my students is for them to develop a solid understanding of information so that they can apply that information in academic contexts, as well as clinical settings.
