Professional Summary

Rebecca Begalle is the director of clinical education for the Undergraduate Exercise Science Program. She is responsible for initiating and maintaining relationships with affiliated clinical sites and teaching/mentoring all exercise science students through their professional development to secure competitive culminating clinical experiences.

Begalle earned her PhD in human movement science with a concentration in biomechanics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her MS and BS in athletic training from Plymouth State University and Canisius College, respectively.

After completing her PhD, Begalle was a faculty member in the undergraduate and graduate athletic training programs for several years at Illinois State University before moving back to the Western N.Y. area to be closer to family. Most recently, she served as the program director and department chair for the graduate athletic training program at Daemen College. She has a unique blend of athletic training and exercise science clinical experience combined with extensive experience in teaching and scholarship in higher education. Her career experience includes clinical athletic training and sports performance roles in hospital, collegiate, high school, and laboratory settings. Begalle’s research interest focuses on promoting physical activity through the lifespan and improving outcomes following traumatic knee injury. Begalle is a current member of the Eastern Athletic Trainer’s Association Research Committee.
