Randomized Trial of Cocoa Flavanols and Multivitamins in the Reduction of CVD and Cancer

The study will test whether the effect of a concentrated cocoa extract can help reduce heart disease and stroke and whether commonly used multivitamin supplements can help reduce the risk of cancer, particularly in older women.

Abstract: The study will test whether the effect of a concentrated cocoa extract can help reduce heart disease and stroke and whether commonly used multivitamin supplements can help reduce the risk of cancer, particularly in older women. Participants from The Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) will randomized into the study and assigned to one of the 4 WHI Regional Centers for follow-up and outcomes documentation.
