NRC TRADE supports partnerships between the UB research community and the private sector; irrespective of the manufacturer's geographic location. Nonetheless, transferring UB research outcomes to local manufacturers and commercializing products based upon this research will stimulate the local economy; create jobs; and strengthen our manufacturing base. For this reason, NRC TRADE is recruiting local manufacturers and investors to participate in this project.

The WNY Health Care Industries Association (HCIA) is a regional organization comprised of 40 healthcare manufacturers. HCIA supports
the regional health care industry through networking, programs and service for its members; to bring research, manufacturers and providers of regional healthcare together; and to jointly foster the participants’ and the area's economic growth. Headquartered on the UB South Campus, HCIA members include many of the leading healthcare manufacturers, research and financial institutions in the Western New York Region. HCIA President Dr. Thomas Stewart (President & COO of Gaymar Industries Inc.) gave his enthusiastic support for NRC TRADE and said to expect full cooperation from HCIA.

First Wave Technologies helps researchers and corporations bring their technologies to market. We offer both capital and a complete management team to accelerate the transformation of ideas into technologies and technologies into products; and then get these products into the customer's hands. First Wave Technologies has a focus on bio-sciences, particularly bio-informatics, bio-optics and nano-biotechnology. However, we will opportunistically pursue other end-markets that leverage our technical and management capabilities. First Wave Technologies is very interested in NRC TRADE because of its outreach to the UB research community; business orientation; experienced management team and its technology focus. We expect NRC TRADE to produce exciting opportunities for First Wave Technologies, UB and the business community.

The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Technology Transfer (T2RERC) has worked with hundreds of assistive technology and mainstream manufacturers. Included among these manufacturers are Kodak, Black & Decker, Pass & Seymour, Whirlpool, Texas Instruments, and many others. The T2RERC will support NRC TRADE by drawing upon its experience, expertise, and private sector contacts.
