The qualities we are seeking in our students are those shared by most epidemiologists and public health professionals: curiosity, a talent for critical thinking, and a desire to improve society. While successful students in our department come from many backgrounds, most have a background in the biological or social sciences and mathematics.
Careers in epidemiology and public health reflect the diversity of the field. Graduates work in academia, national and international agencies, local and state health departments, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare organizations, and non-profit research institutions. Our graduates have pursued successful careers in these fields.
