The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine has a long and productive history of research and teaching in chronic disease epidemiology and prevention. The University at Buffalo is a major research-intensive institution, the largest and most comprehensive of the campuses of the State University of New York, offering more than 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The SPHHP and the other schools of the Academic Health Center (Schools of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Nursing), Roswell Park Cancer Institute, The New York Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, and the Buffalo National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis provide a rich environment for collaborative research.

Rank: Full / Associate Professor (appointable to full professor with tenure, state supported).
