Millen receives SPHHP Award

Amy Millen, PhD, Assistant Professor, received the 2011 SPHHP Outstanding Junior Researcher Award. This award is presented to a faculty member whose recent research initiatives demonstrate outstanding importance and relevance to the overall mission of the School of Public Health and Health Professions.

Violanti promoted to Research Professor

John Violanti, PhD, has been promoted to the rank of Research Professor effective April, 2012. Dr. Violanti's research has focused on a number of topics including assessment of psychological and biological indicators of chronic police stress; subclinical cardiovascular and metabolic disease in police; shift work and health, and the epidemiology of police suicide.
Lewis Kuller, MD, DrPH, will be the speaker for this year's Saxon Graham Lecture. The talk will be on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 12:00 pm, 144 Farber Hall, South Campus and is open to the public.
Light refreshments will be served at 11:30 am. CME credits available. See the seminar notice for additional information.
Dr. Kuller is an internationally renowned researcher in the area of cardiovascular disease epidemiology. He is the Distinguished University Professor of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. The Saxon Graham Lectureship is an annual lecture honoring Dr. Saxon Graham, the Chair of the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, 1981-1991. Lecturers are international leaders in epidemiological research.

Global Health Day
The 2nd Annual Global Health Day will be held Friday, March 30 starting at 11 am in Farber 144. Keynote address will be given by Eric Mintz, MD, MPH. Dr Mintz is Team Lead, Global WASH Epidemiology, Division of Foodborne, Waterborne, and Environmental Diseases, Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta.
