Profile
Dr. Freudenheim received her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She came to UB for postdoctoral training in cancer epidemiology and was appointed to the faculty in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in 1987. Dr. Freudenheim became Interim Chair of the Department in 2003 and Chair in 2006. She is also Professor in the Department of Cancer Pathology and Prevention at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Research Interests
Dr. Freudenheim's research focuses on diet and alcohol consumption in relation to cancer, particularly breast cancer. With her research group, she is working on the identification of genetic factors that interact with diet to influence disease risk. In addition, they are examining tumor characteristics in relation to dietary and genetic factors. Dr. Freudenheim is also interested in the impact of exposures in early life on breast cancer risk, including diet and other environmental exposures.
