Profile
Dr. Freudenheim received her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She subsequently came to UB for postdoctoral training in cancer epidemiology and was appointed to the faculty in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine in 1987. Dr. Freudenheim became Interim Chair of the Department in 2003 and Chair in 2006. She is also Professor in the Department of Cancer Pathology and Prevention at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Research Interests
Dr. Freudenheim's research focuses on the molecular epidemiology of breast cancer. With her research group, she is examining how molecular characteristics of tumors may vary with dietary, genetic and other exposures. Dr. Freudenheim's work also includes research on the impact of exposures in early life on breast cancer risk. Her studies are conducted in Western New York and in Puerto Rico.
