Doctoral Degree in Community Health
Admission Requirements:
- Hold Bachelor's degree with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B grade) or above. Master's degree preferred. Promising students with a GPA less than 3.0 may still be considered.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) - a minimum score of 500 or 50th percentile for each category (verbal and quantitative) and a minimum of 4.0 or 50th percentile for analytic writing. The GRE is waived only for persons with a doctoral degree, e.g. M.D., or Ph.D., from an American university. [Please Note! We will accept only paper-based Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores from applicants from the following countries: Korea, Peoples Republic of China including Hong Kong, and the Republic of China (Taiwan). The codes for the GRE are: 2925 University, 0606 Epidemiology.]
- International applicants: TOEFL examination completed within two years of enrollment with a minimum acceptable score of 600 (computer score of 250, IBT score of 100). International applicants must also submit a passport biographical page, a completed International Applicant Financial Form and an original official bank statement documenting $21,865.
- College level algebra or calculus course (must achieve a minimum grade of C).
- Highly recommended are:
- One general biology course;
- One health related science course (e.g., anatomy, microbiology, or physiology);
- One college level chemistry course;
- One course in behavioral sciences, including a course in sociology or social psychology, and a course in subjects such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, political science, or economics; and
- A basic computing course.
Applicants Must:

- Supply two letters of recommendation;
- Provide official transcripts of all previous academic work;
- Submit official Graduate Record Exam scores;
- Submit a personal statement of career goals and research interest(s);
- Submit $50 application fee;
- International applicants must also submit a TOEFL
examination score (see above); a passport biographical page, a completed International
Applicant Financial Form and an original official bank statement
documenting $21,865.
Application Information:
Completed applications received by January 15 will be given priority; however applications received after this deadline will be considered for admission. Applications are only considered for Fall semester admission; there are no Spring semester admissions.
