Profile:
Dr. Stephen Bauer earned a
BS in Chemistry; MS and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering
from the University at Buffalo and is a former NIH/NCMRR Post-Doctoral
Fellow in Rehabilitation (1992-1993). He is now a Clinical
Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science
and directs both the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center
on Technology Transfer and the Information Technology Services
for the School of Public Health and Health Professions. Dr.
Bauer has worked on a number of projects focused on technology
for mobility, hearing, communication, and visual impairments.
He is an invited speaker for the US Federal Laboratory Consortium,
and major Industry Associations. He also teaches RSC640 "Assistive
and Rehabilitation Technology," an elective for the Rehabilitation
Science PhD and Assistive Technology Certificate programs.
Research Interests:
Dr. Bauer's interests include technology transfer, market
research, product design, universal and trans-generational
design.
