OT Pin Ceremony

The annual Occupational Therapy Pin Ceremony signifies the transition from classroom-based didactic learning to clinically-based apprenticeship learning just before students embark on their first level II fieldwork placement in the spring of their fourth year.

Although the University at Buffalo OT program is over 60 years old, the inaugural pin ceremony was held in spring 2017 in recognition of the program's updated curriculum requiring students to remain on campus until April of their fourth year.

At the pinning ceremony, students gather to hear a message of encouragement form a Keynote Speaker who has ties to UB, recite an OT pledge in unison, and are individually pinned by their research mentor. The event concludes with refreshments and celebration as students and faculty prepare to say goodbye until the next semester.
