Epidemiology and Community Health PhD program

I went to medical school and did clinical medicine for two years, but I realized I was more interested in research, science writing, and public health than practicing as a physician.

I am working as a research assistant with my advisor in cancer prevention at Roswell Park Cancer Institute on treatments to help smokers stop smoking. I think preventive medicine works better than therapeutic medicine. If you prevent disease, you can really improve the quality of life in whole communities. You can make a great difference by dealing with issues like driving, drinking, smoking, diet, and physical activity.
