Center for Assistive Technology (CAT) accepted as a "Resource Center Member" of the Alliance for Technology Access
(March 22, 2006)
The Center for Assistive Technology (CAT) has been accepted as a "Resource Center Member" of the Alliance for Technology Access. The ATA is a national member organization (currently 40 members) selected through a merit review application process, providing information and services to individuals with disabilities related to assistive technology. Resource Center Members meet specific criteria that reflect comprehensive assistive technology services in the community, as well as recognized national-level expertise.
Some of the many benefits of being a Resource Center include participation in events of national significance, comprehensive access to assistive technology resources and preview access to newly introduced devices, and conducting regional activities with our colleagues at UB and/or in the community.
For example, On Friday, May 19th, CAT will be hosting the introduction of a new product, the Tango!, an augmentative communication device, through the ATA. It will be conducted at UB's Center for Excellence in Augmentative Communication, as the logical location within CAT's network of agency's in the region. The ATA Director, Russ Holland, will be coming to tour CAT on that day.
