Master of Public Health (MPH)
Prevention. Promotion. Communication.

Welcome!

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at the University at Buffalo will prepare you for public health careers by providing a comprehensive understanding of public health philosophy, as well as the practical knowledge and skills needed to address current and emerging public health problems. The program serves both health professionals (with or without doctoral level degrees) and individuals who through undergraduate study and/or experience have substantial interest in a career in public health.

The MPH program offers concentrated study in five areas: biostatistics, community health and health behavior, environmental health, epidemiology, and health services administration. Each concentration includes coursework, field training and a culminating integrative project. You can also obtain both the MPH and another professional degree through our collaborative programs in less time than completing each degree separately.

You can complete your field training requirement at any of our many local affiliated sites as well as at non-affiliated sites. This gives you the opportunity to do your field training anywhere in the world.

Our students have been fortunate in securing either employment or advanced education upon graduation. A recent survey of our MPH graduates found that within one year of graduation 85% were employed and an additional 12% were pursuing further education.
