January 2009:

Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference took place on January 28th -31st in Orlando, Florida.  This conference explored best practices and benefits for building system-wide accessibility within corporations, government agencies, or educational institutions. Joe Lane, Jen Flagg and Jim Leahy attended and presented at this year’s conference. The topic of their presentation was “Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer – Making R&D Matter to Stakeholders”. During this presentation, they described KT models, methods and measures, along with explaining how it is applied in order to accomplish technology transfer within the field of assistive technology. They gave an overview of knowledge translation, evidence of its utility for research and development, a summary of resources available, and opportunity to enroll in on-going projects. www.atia.org

March 2009:

 KT4TT’s Knowledge Translation Scholars Meeting is scheduled for March 17th and 18th, 2009 in Toronto, Canada.

May 2009:

NIDRR RERC Project Director's Meeting took place at the Doubletree Crystal City Hotel on May 14-15, 2009. The agenda and all available presentations are posted at http://www.neweditions.net/RERC2009/. Joe Lane, Principal Investigator and Director of the Center on KT4TT grant presented, Description of new KT4TT Center, and the value of the Center to the RERC program.

June 2009:

 Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) will take place on June 23rd through the 27th, in New Orleans, Louisiana. RESNA’s purpose is to improve the potential of people with disabilities through the use of assistive technology. At this annual conference, research, design work, and clinical findings will be presented to service providers, researchers, educators and consumers.  Jim Leahy will be presenting a workshop entitled "Intellectual Property Basics for Researchers and Inventors". www.resna.org

Technology Transfer Conferences

February 2009:

Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) will take place on February 12-14th, in Orlando, Florida. The theme for this year’s conference is “Defining Our Profession”. The sponsor envisions professionals to come together at this conference in order to help each other talk about the value of technology transfer. The AUTM is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting the technology transfer profession through education, training and communications. www.autm.net

October 2009:

Licensing Executives Society (LES) will take place October 18th-22nd in San Francisco, CA. This meeting will focus education and diversity in licensing. Attendees will gain a fresh perspective on these subjects by drawing from the diverse industries and specialties that make LES distinctive, including industries like the health care, high technology, energy and materials technology. This is the largest annual gathering of licensing executives. LES, as a leader in the licensing arena, with more than 6000 members engaged in the development, use, transfer, marketing, and management of intellectual property.  http://www.usa-canada.les.org/|

The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) will hold their 33rd Annual International Conference on October 31 to November 4, 2009 in Anaheim, California. PDMA is the premier global advocate for product development and management professionals. Their mission is to improve the effectiveness of individuals and organizations in product development and management by providing resources for professional development, information, collaboration and promotion of new product development and management. Assistive Technology Conferences

August 2009:

Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE) will be held on August 31 through September 2, in Florence, Italy. This conference will discuss such topics as technological innovation in Assistive Technology, the need for interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary approaches to the development of integrated solutions, the need for standardization and technology transfer, towards not only AT industry, but also mainstream industry. http://www.aaate2009.eu/
Joseph Lane, PI, KT4TT presented two papers, "Delivering the D in R&D: Increasing Product Outcomes from R&D Projects" and "Knowledge Translation for Technology Transfer: Making R&D Matter to Stakeholders"

November 2009:

The Evaluation 2009 conference, hosted by the American Evaluation Association (AEA), is scheduled to take place from November 11-14, 2009 and workshops will take place from November 9-11 & 15, 2009 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando Florida. 
AEA's annual meeting is expected to bring together approximately 2500 evaluation practitioners, academics, and students, and represents a unique opportunity to gather with professional colleagues in a supportive, invigorating, atmosphere. The conference is broken down into 41 Topical Strands that examine the field from the vantage point of a particular methodology, context, or issue of interest to the field as well as the Presidential Strand highlighting this year's Presidential Theme of Context and Evaluation. Presentations may explore the conference theme or any aspect of the full breadth and depth of evaluation theory and practice.
