- "1-877-305-4309 has been established to provide remote
access to the University's modem pool from locations outside
of the 716 calling area. For billing and security purposes,
a Personal Identification Number (PIN) is required in order to
use this new service. Charges for these calls will be billed back
to the caller's University account. The rate charged for
calls made from outside New York State will be $0.06 per minute
and $0.07 per minute within NewYork State. The rate from Canada
is $0.42 per minute."

- UB provides over 1000 high speed modems allowing students, faculty
and staff to access campus resources via the Internet. These numbers
provide access to the University's modem pool from locations inside of the 716 calling area. There
is no user fee, please check with your telephone company to confirm
calling privileges and rates.

encrypted tunnel [via cable modem, digital service line, phone
modem connection ] from your computer to the campus network. With
the VPN client you can send email, use any library database, and
connect to other campus resources just as if you were on campus!
And because it's encrypted, your password and other private data
pass from your computer to the campus safe from prying eyes."
