Research Findings

Marc Kiviniemi, PhD, recently had his article entitled, Effects of a blended learning approach on student outcomes in a graduate-level public health course published in BMC Medical Education.

The article compares learning outcomes between a traditionaly taught course and a blended course. In the blended approach Marc uses a combination of pre-recorded "lecture-ette" videos and in-class activities to enhance the student learning experience.

The students are required to view the videos prior to coming to class, which frees up approximately 80% of the class time for active learning activities (group work and class discussion).
