Did you know over 33% of refugees resettled in New York State are resettled in Buffalo? Since 2000, the foreign-born population has grown from 4.4% to 33% and the number of students in the Buffalo Public Schools with limited English proficiency has doubled. Having fled war, persecution, and torture, Buffalos refugee populations are revitalizing and diversifying Buffalos West Side with new businesses and a desire to put down roots.

As Buffalos diversifies, healthcare service providers must meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population. The Annual Refugee Health Summit brings together university scholars, resettlement agencies, service providers, community support centers, municipality, and refugees to examine barriers and explore solutions to promote culturally engaged healthcare for refugees in Buffalo.
