2016: Linda van Horn, PhD, RD

The 10th Saxon Graham Lecturer will be presented by
Linda van Horn, PhD, RD, Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Associate Dean for Faculty Development, Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.

Linda Van Horn, PhD, RD is a world-renowned leader in research regarding nutrition and cardiovascular diseases, particularly among women and children. She is a Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Associate Dean for Faculty Development in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. She is also a registered dietitian. Van Horn is the PI of the Chicago site of the Women’s Health Initiative, of the Diet Intervention Study in Children, and of an NIH-funded consortium study, the Maternal Offspring Metabolics Family Intervention Trial (MOMFIT), aimed at prevention of excessive gestational weight gain in overweight and obese pregnant women. Her work also  involves medical nutrition education and public health policy development. 

Van Horn chaired the 2010 US Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee and has served on the NHLBI Advisory council. She recently completed a ten-year term as Editor of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Van Horn is a member and former chair of the Nutrition Committee of the American Heart Association.
