The 2nd Saxon Graham Lecturer was Laurence N. Kolonel, MD, PhD,
deputy center director and program director of cancer epidemiology
at the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii.
Kolonel is one of the leaders of the Multiethnic Cohort Study, a large epidemiologic study examining environmental and genetic influences on cancer. Much of his work has focused on nutrition and risk of cancer in Hawaii, using the large variation in culture and diet among the groups living in Hawai'i to explore interrelations of genes and environment in relation to cancer risk.
