Admissions

For Students Applying to UB for the First Time

First Year Students or Transfers

For new UB students, admission to the public health major is part of the overall process of admission to the University at Buffalo. When completing your application, please select Public Health from the list of UB majors.

For Current UB Students

Current UB students may apply to change from their current major to the BS in Public Health or to add the BS in Public Health as a second major. Current UB students not enrolled in the Public Health major are eligible for admission if they meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, both overall and at UB.
  • Completion of PUB 101, PUB 102, and at least one course from the prerequisite major requirements with a minimum average GPA of 2.5 in those courses.

Students interested in applying for the major should complete the School of Public Health and Health Professions Undergraduate Program Change form. Students may complete this form prior to having completed the eligibility criteria to indicate interest in the change of major.
