Admissions

You must complete both the dietetic internship (DICAS) and the graduate school GrAdMIT applications and requirements.  

Please note: this involves one, non-refundable application fee to DICAS and one $50 application fee to the graduate program, by way of an online credit card; see below for additional details).

Match Day - Second Round Application Process

If you did not receive a match on Appointment Day (April 7, 2019), on Thursday April 11, 2019, D&D Digital website will list programs with open seats. If interested, applicants should release their DICAS materials (using the DICAS portal) to the University at Buffalo MS DI Program for consideration. Additionally, please email a brief description of your DICAS application including your Grade Point Average, GRE scores, interest in the program and brief work history to Nicole Klem, MS RDN NLKLEM@buffalo.edu. We will accept and begin screening second round applications on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at noon EDT.  Invitations to join the 2019/2020 class will be issued beginning on Thursday, April 11, 2019, by either email or telephone call. 

Centralized Application System

The Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System (DICAS) online application will be utilized. Please visit the DICAS website for additional details on the application process.

When submitting your application you will be asked to provide:

  • Resume
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official transcripts - from all colleges and universities
  • A personal Statement - this statement should address why you are a good fit for the UB Master of Science and Dietetic Internship program. Please also highlight your areas of strength and areas for improvement.

D&D Digital

Internship selection will take place utilizing the D&D Digital Systems computer matching. Please visit their website for registration and matching selection deadlines.

Interviews

Qualified candidates will be contacted for a virtual/online interview in early-mid March.

UB Graduate Application and Requirements

  • First, apply to the University at Buffalo Clinical Nutrition MS program. Make sure to include your electronic signature on the application or it will be listed as incomplete.
  • A $50 non-refundable application fee is required. Pay via a credit card as part of the online application.

Final Requirements

  • Once accepted to the Dietetic Internship with Master of Science in Nutrition, submit the following required materials.
    • A verification statement signed by your didactic program director. If you have not completed all coursework, include a signed Declaration of Intent to Complete the Degree form and/or a signed Approval of Minimum Academic Requirements.
    • Original transcripts from every institution (including University at Buffalo) that you have attended. Transcripts must show a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 for undergraduate work. Transcripts reflecting bachelor's degree conferral date must be sent to Kristen Braunscheidel, University at Buffalo, 206 Kimball Tower, Buffalo, NY 14214.
    • GRE scores. Scores do not have to be included in the application packet but must be received by June 1. When requesting scores, use code 2925 for UB and 0214 for nutrition. Learn more about requesting GRE scores.
    • TOEFL exam scores of greater than 549 on the written test or 212 on the computer-based test.

Secondary recommendations and career statements are not required for the graduate application since you will send this information in your formal internship application through DICAS.
