Summary

Shiyong Liu is an associate professor at the Research Institute of Economics and Management, Southwest University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), Chengdu, China. He joined the department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health as a Visiting Research Scholar in December 2013.

Liu received a BEng (engineering) in process automation of oil refinery from Northeast Petroleum University, Daqing, China, and a MA in management science and engineering from Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou, China. He earned his PhD in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Most recently he was a visiting scholar at the Johns Hopkins Global Center on Childhood Obesity (JHGCCO) based in Johns Hopkins University.

Liu's major interests are in the policy evaluation, modeling of enterprise management system, systems engineering, system of systems engineering, system dynamics, agent-based modeling, modeling and simulation of complex system, system design, fuzzy set theory and application, quality management, enterprise performance measurement. He has done extensive trans-disciplinary research in policy evaluation include traffic congestion pricing policy and its impact, financing sustainability of healthcare system in China, pricing policy in obesity prevention and intervention, economic evaluation of diabetes interventions, and design of complex socio-technic systems.
