Application Information
- Note: Due to the time delays
in acquiring US immigration visas, all international applications must be submitted by March 1, 2008 to be considered for Fall entry, and August 15, 2008 to be considered for Spring entry.
Please note that applications from domestic students and from international students in possession of valid US visas will continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis. - Note: The GRE's will be required for individuals applying for the MS in Exercise Science after January 1, 2008.
- All MS applicants need a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work.
- Application forms must be filled out on-line (Mandatory). On-line applicants must obtain recommendation forms which can be downloaded from this site. The on-line application can be filled out in stages (you can use cut and paste to fill out the statements). Foreign students must submit a copy or fax (716-829-3700) of their biographical page (with picture) from their passport.
- STATEMENT OF CAREER OBJECTIVES AND PLANS (included in online application) should include your area of concentration and research interests. This section is very important in the application process and a lack of detail may cause a delay in processing your application materials.
- GRADUATE ASSISTANT QUALIFICATION STATEMENT (included in the on-line application) must be submitted to be considered for a graduate assistantship. This should include any special skills you may have, previous teaching/laboratory experience, research experience, etc.
- Contact a faculty member in your area of interest prior to submitting your application materials, if you are applying for a thesis option MS. An interview (in-person or by phone) should be arranged with a faculty member from the area of concentration you have chosen. For a listing of the graduate faculty and their interests click here.
- Application fee The State of New York has approved new application fees for selected programs. Fees for programs in SPHHP are now $50 for electronic filing. Please make check payable to: The State University of New York at Buffalo. This needs to be sent to the Graduate Secretary. You may also pay using a credit card.
- TWO RECOMMENDATION FORMS ( Word) must be sent to the Graduate Secretary. These forms should be supplied by individuals who have worked closely with you and have more than casual knowledge of your academic performance. Please use the admissions form (2 each) if only applying to the program and the Graduate Assistantship form (2 each) if interested in assistantships.
- Official transcripts must be requested from every institution you have attended (including the University at Buffalo) and sent to the Graduate Secretary.
- TOEFL scores of greater than 549 on the written test or 212 on the computer-based test is required for students who are not native speakers of English, including those who are transferring from or who have completed degree programs at other US colleges or universities.

We accept students year-round on a rolling admission basis, but if you wish to be considered for a graduate assistantship you should apply by the first weekday in April.
