Stay Hydrated

Many people confuse hunger with dehydration. Carry a water bottle with you at all times. Strive for 6-8 cups of water each day.
Practice Portion Control

Maintain a healthy weight by eating correct portion sizes. One serving of meat should be the size of a deck of cards, cooked rice or pasta the size of a tennis ball and a baked potato should be the size of a computer mouse.
Help Prevent Falls

Slips and falls account for 19 to 27% of all firefighting injuries. Practice training exercises that enhance balance and core strength.
Fight Heart Disease

Research shows that 45% of U.S. firefighter deaths in the line of duty were caused by heart disease. To help prevent cardiac issues, quit smoking, control your weight, exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet.
