Annotation: The purpose of this article was to propose a best practices framework which companies can use to benchmark their new product development projects against. Six dimensions, strategy, portfolio management, process, market research, people and metrics and performance evaluation are considered important topics to consider when wanting to improve NPD outcomes. The framework describes 4 different levels for each dimension. Rejoinders to this paper are published in the same issue of the journal.
