Dr. Beehler is a research psychologist and medical anthropologist at the Center for Integrated Healthcare at the Buffalo VA Medical Center.  His research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to disease prevention and health behavior promotion.  As a scientist-practitioner, he aims to both develop and find innovate ways to deliver comprehensive psychosocial interventions that will promote mental and physical wellbeing in cancer survivors.  He recently completed a study of the prevalence of overweight and obesity in veteran cancer survivors and is currently developing a method by which to assess health services delivery fidelity among behavioral health providers who work in primary care settings.  Previously, as a pre-doctoral research associate at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, he investigated dietary, anthropometric, and pharmaceutical risk factors associated with breast and ovarian cancers.  In his clinical work, Dr. Beehler provides consultation to the Oncology Department at the Buffalo VA by assisting veterans with distress management and wellness promotion through all stages of survivorship.
