Competencies

The Master of Science (MS) training program in community health and health behavior is designed to enable students to:

  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of the interactions between community and behavioral, biological, cultural, environmental, health care, policy, and socioeconomic factors as influences on public health.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of a core set of methodological skills relevant to community health and health behavior. 
  • Apply and interpret data applicable to community health and health behavior research.
  • Critically evaluate original community health and health behavior research.
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of the utility of and challenges to implementation of interventions to impact health behaviors and community health.
  • Communicate research findings to community stakeholders and scientific audiences.
  • Apply ethical principles to research and professional practice.
