How long does it take to earn an MPH?

The program can be completed in 4 semesters of full-time attendance or up to 8 semesters of part-time attendance.

Can I transfer credit from courses taken elsewhere?

Yes, potentially up to 10 credits for appropriate graduate courses may be transferred. Learn more about transferring course credits.

Can I earn credit for work experience?

Yes. There is a three-credit field training requirement which can be waived in whole or in part for relevant work experience in public health. Learn more about requesting a field training waiver.

What is your graduates' employment experience?

A recent survey of our MPH graduates found that within one year of graduation 85% were employed and an additional 12% were pursuing further education.

Is the school accredited?

Yes, the School of Public Health and Health Professions is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), an independent agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit schools of public health. Graduates of CEPH-accredited schools are eligible to sit for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) credential offered by the National Board of Public Health Examiners.

Where can I find housing convenient to the campus?

UB offers a variety of on-campus housing options for graduate students, including townhouses and traditional residence hall accommodations. An off-campus housing division can also help you find a place in the area.
