International Admissions

Apply Online

Apply online to the MS program through the graduate school website. The online application is fast, easy and secure. A $50 non-refundable fee is required.

Deadlines

Apply by April 1 for fall semester admission.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • A GPA of 3.0 or above

International applicants must demonstrate understanding of English as shown by one of the following: 

English proficiency as demonstrated by one of the following (use School 2925; School of Public Health and Health Professions to submit scores) and must be dated within two years of application:

  • Minimum TOEFL scores of 600 for the(rPDT)paper-based test; 250 for the computer-based test or 79 (our department prefers close to 100) for the internet-based test
  • Minimum IELTS score of 6.5
  • Pearson Test of English minimum score is 55 out of 90
  • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) Minimum scoring on Old Scoring Scale 65 Overall, 185 overall on New Scoring Scale
  • Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) Minimum scoring on Old Scoring Scale 60 Overall, 185 overall on New Scoring Scale
  • If you have completed a degree program in the United States and have a TOEFL score (or similar) that meets the minimum University at Buffalo requirements as cited above, you may submit a copy of that TOEFL score for a waiver of the TOEFL exam for this degree program.

Additional Requirements

  • A strong background in mathematics or statistics
  • At least three semesters of advanced calculus
  • One semester of statistics is recommended

Supplemental Materials

Before you submit your online application, ensure that you have all of the supplemental materials ready.

With your online application, you will be able to upload transcripts, your resume and personal statement. Three letters of reference will be requested through the email addresses of the recommenders.

You should request that your TOEFL scores are sent to UB.
When requesting,
use these reporting codes: School 2925; Department  Code - use School of Public Health or any department not listed.

Additionally:

  • Submit the biographical page of your passport
