Accreditation
Seeing the Forest and the Trees

Welcome to the School of Public Health and Health Professions accreditation webpage. This site supports the school's efforts to secure accreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). CEPH is an independent agency recognized to accredit graduate schools of public health. The core of the accreditation process will be a self-study whereby the school will engage in a broad-based, integrated self-evaluation.

The accreditation procedures outlined by CEPH (CEPH accreditation procedures) are extensive and call for examination of everything from the school's mission and goals to curricula, organizational setting, governance structure, and resources. The CEPH criteria for accreditation to be examined during the self-study will investigate both process and outcomes. The in-depth accreditation process will include input from faculty and staff as well as alumni, students, and community representatives.

CEPH has four major criteria by which it judges schools of public health: 1) the School of Public Health, 2) Instructional Programs, 3) Creation, Application and Advancement of Knowledge, and 4) Faculty, Staff and Students. Each of these four criteria has sub-criteria. On this website you will find for each major criterion the specific sub-criteria, CEPH interpretation of the criteria, and CEPH required documentation for the criteria. Some criteria require the completion of specific templates, and these are also provided. Beyond that, the site provides various types of resources that may be helpful in addressing the criteria, such as School documents and examples from accredited schools.

It has been exciting and rewarding witnessing the growth of the School of Public Health and Health Professions over the past several years. Becoming accredited by CEPH is an essential step as our School continues to evolve. We look forward to working with you when we initiate the self-study. In the meantime, please check out some of the resources provided on this website and we encourage you to contact us with any questions and concerns.
